Health Information Management

Health information managers are a vital and integral part of the health care team. They play an important role in the planning, design, implementation, management, use and evaluation of information systems and electronic health records. Health information managers are the specialists who secure, analyze, integrate, maintain and provide reliable and accurate information that steers the healthcare industry. Health Science majors at LIU-Brooklyn have a unique opportunity to enroll in the HIM Certificate program offered by LIU-Post that is normally only offered to individuals who already have a baccalaureate degree. LIU-Post HIM courses are offered on-line with no on-campus component and will count as electives toward your Health Science degree. When you graduate you will receive a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in HIM in addition to your baccalaureate degree and will be eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification exam. For more information about the HIM Program please contact the Administrative Assistant for the Department of Health Sciences at LIU-Post Mary LoBianco at 516-299-2743 or mary.lobianco@liu.edu, Professor Marie Colin, Director of the HIM Program at LIU-Post at marie.colin@liu.edu or 516-299-4158, or visit the HIM Certificate webpage at HIM Certificate.
