B.F.A. for Professional Dancers

Dancers who have pursued a professional dance career just out of high school, or even after a short period of time in college, may be able to apply their professional training towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Dance at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus. LIU’s Professional B.F.A. program is the place where professional dancers can make the transition from performing full-time to a whole host of professional activities in the arts.

Professional B.F.A. students will have to complete the same core curriculum requirements as the traditional B.F.A. However, many performing artists may well be qualified to have their performance careers credited to various Dance Department courses, thereby shortening the length of time that they would need to be in school.

Since evaluating life credits must be done on an individual basis, additional information and answers to specific questions are available from both the Dance Department and the Office of Admissions.

For more information, contact the Admissions Office at (718) 488-1010 or Professor Dana Hash-Campbell, Chair of the Dance Department, at (718) 246-6337 or via email at
