Types of Services

Marketing and Media Research

To better help clients understand their target audiences and how to best reach them, Marketing Services offers a broad array of research options. From focus groups, to online surveys, to polling, we can provide a solid base of information upon which to develop marketing programs that meet your goals and objectives.

Media research services also are available to help make the most educated decisions as to which types of promotional vehicles – print, online, broadcast, or a combination – will work best to deliver your message.

Please e-mail stephen.hausler@liu.edu or call 516-299-2506 to request marketing and media research.

Marketing Plans and Campaigns

Many clients require the development and the execution of full marketing plans and campaigns. Generally these are developed well in advance of the start of the marketing recruitment cycle. Plans of this nature are normally developed for spring, summer and fall recruitment. They can consist of a multifaceted approach that includes direct mail and e-mail marketing; radio, television and newspaper advertising; participation in promotion events; outdoor advertising; and sponsorships.

For best results, make appointments early with the Marketing Services team to ensure that we are able to properly plan and execute the most effective program to address your needs.

Please e-mail stephen.hausler@liu.edu or call 516-299-2506 to request a consultation for the development of marketing plans and promotional campaigns.

Note that advertising inventory tends to become very tight around elections and holidays, so it is best to book any advertising buys for large campaigns well in advance.

Media Buying & Sponsorships

Marketing Services’ in-house advertising agency status qualifies it to book all advertising at the net rate, which is 15% below the rate of buying through an external agency. A full-time media director is available to help clients develop, well-researched media plans that are executed and monitored to ensure effectiveness and a strong return on investment. Media buying is available for online advertising; newspaper, television and radio advertising; outdoor and public space advertising (billboards and signage in sports arenas, shopping malls, theaters; along highways; beach fly-bys, etc.); vehicle advertising (bus, subway, airplane, railroad); cinema advertising; and event sponsorship.

Sponsorship advertising is sometimes available as part of larger advertising contracts, but can also be researched and purchased on a per opportunity basis.

Note that advertising inventory tends to become very tight around elections and holidays, so it is best to book any advertising buys for large campaigns well in advance.

Please e-mail scott.lieberman@liu.edu or call 516-299-2851 to request a consultation for media buying.

If the buy is part of a larger marketing campaign that requires the development of a complete marketing program, please contact scott.lieberman@liu.edu or call 516-299-2851, so that a meeting can be arranged to discuss your needs.

Traditional & E-Mail Marketing

Marketing Services handles the development, list buying and execution of traditional direct marketing campaigns as well as e-mail marketing campaigns.

For traditional direct marketing campaigns, clients can use either Marketing Services or Mailing Services to purchase lists. For e-mail marketing campaigns Marketing Services will arrange for purchase of lists through external vendors that specialize in this area.

Clients can call for consultation or meet with staff on creative, list purchasing and execution of direct mail marketing.

Requisitions for direct mail campaigns should be sent to Anita Filippi-D'anca through interoffice mail or via e-mail anita.filippi-d'anca@liu.edu.

Requisitions for e-mail campaigns should be sent to Anita Filippi-D'anca through interoffice mail or via e-mail anita.filippi-d'anca@liu.edu.

Please allow a reasonable amount of time for these types of projects as they require research and often utilize the services of external vendors.

Strategic and Creative Copy Writing Services

Marketing Services is staffed with professional writers and editors who can help you to develop the copy your project requires. All copy for the University is written to AP Style specifications. If your project requires copy writing, please include as much information as possible about your program and target audiences, along with your completed job requisition so that we are able to develop relevant material, which will accurately represent your product or service.

If you are submitting draft copy, please note that it will automatically be edited to meet AP Style and University standards.

Photography

If your project requires photography, we can supply it from the Department photo archives, royalty free sites with which we have contracted, or we can arrange for a photographer at an additional cost. If a photographer needs to be hired for an event or a specific shoot, please be sure to make a request several weeks in advance.

If you are providing photography, please send images that are 300 DPI and furnish all captions and photo credits. Note that you must request that any subjects in the pictures sign a release to ensure that the University has permission to use their likeness. Release forms are available through the campus PR Offices or through Marketing Services.
