About the Search

Long Island University conducted a nationwide search for its 10th president.

The Search Committee oversaw the process of identifying the next leader of Long Island University. This committee was chaired by Eric Krasnoff, retired chairman, president & CEO of Pall Corporation. Mr. Krasnoff has been an LIU trustee for 20 years. Most recently, he has chaired the University’s Planning Committee, playing an instrumental role in advancing the institution’s strategic planning process.

Recognizing that the appointment of the president is a core fiduciary responsibility of the Board, an Executive Committee, which is a subset of the broader committee and is composed of eight trustees, was charged with special responsibilities. This Executive Committee screened candidates who met the qualifications summarized in the presidential leadership profile and selected a small number of exceptional candidates to be interviewed. A subset of the Search Committee, including trustees, faculty leaders, deans and administrators, interviewed the finalists.

To facilitate the search process, the University engaged the firm of Witt/Kieffer, the nation’s largest firm specializing in senior-level searches in higher education and health care.
