Top entrepreneurs and educators will share insights and advice at LIU Post's first TEDx conference, The Innovator Within: Redefining Entrepreneurship.
The event will be held on Thursday, April 24, 8 a.m. to noon, at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts Recital Hall. Live video streaming will also be available at liu.edu/tedx.
The TEDxLIU event will bring together thought leaders from various disciplines as presenters, including Dr. Richard Keeling, head of Keeling & Associates; Arel Moodie, best-selling author of Your Starting Point For Student Success; David Kline (B.S. ’89, M.B.A. ’92), vice president for technology and chief information officer for Viacom; Rakesh Bhargava, manager and general partner for MangoTree Real Estate Holdings, L.P.; Joana Vicente, executive director of the Independent Filmmaker Project; and Dr. William Brennan, co-founder of SchoolLeadership20.com.
TED conferences are forums known for “ideas worth spreading,” where leaders from hundreds of diverse fields—including technology, entertainment, design, business, science, humanities, arts, and global issues—share their ideas through short presentations that are offered to the world community free on the Web. TEDx brings the TED experience to the local level through self-organized events on topics of relevance to the host community.
“The April 24 TEDx program at LIU Post will present meaningful views about the many dimensions of entrepreneurial innovation,” said Dr. Dengting Boyanton, assistant professor in the College of Education, Information, and Technology, and co-director of TEDxLIU. “We are proud to be the conduit bringing the most innovative contemporary ideas to the university, local, and global communities.”
Dr. Vincent Scovetta, co-director of TEDx and associate professor in the LIU Post Department of Computer Science and Management Engineering, said that TEDx will be a unique opportunity for learning. “TEDx speakers tackle humanity’s toughest questions, attempting to answer them with innovation, enterprise, and enduring optimism,” he added. “The TEDx audience is a remarkable group of people who are open-minded, curious, intelligent, and eager to learn.”
