Brentwood, N.Y. -- It's the gold standard of business education: accreditation by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only 15 percent of business schools in the world are good enough to earn it.
Now an AACSB International-accredited Master of Business Administration program is offered in Suffolk County - at the Brentwood Campus of Long Island University. Classes are scheduled in the evenings for working adults, and students in the program receive a 25 percent tuition discount.
An M.B.A. can help advance your career. And it's not just for finance: the M.B.A. program at the Brentwood Campus includes course work in every aspect of business, including marketing, management and management information systems.
"It's a well-rounded academic program that's applicable to any industry and provides students with high-value skills," said George Andreadis, director of Graduate Programs for the C.W. Post College of Management as well as an instructor in the program and a veteran investments manager. "Many of our students say the M.B.A. jump-starts their creativity and leads them to new opportunities or new ways to succeed in their present careers."
"Some students decide they don't want to work for someone else," Andreadis added. "With the skills you acquire in the M.B.A. program, you can open a coffee shop or a software company. Entrepreneurship is part of the program."
AACSB International accredits only programs with the best professors, most comprehensive curricula and meaningful interaction between professors and students. "This gives graduates a leg up on the competition," said Andreadis. Employers know that AACSB International-accredited programs are current, provide relevant knowledge and reflect an understanding of today's complex business environment.
The Brentwood Campus M.B.A. is a division of the M.B.A. program at Long Island University's C.W. Post Campus, which has been named one of the "best business schools" by The Princeton Review.
Students progress through the Brentwood M.B.A. program together as a cohort, which develops teamwork skills and offers excellent opportunities for networking. Most students are already working professionals and many form mutually beneficial relationships with their classmates.
By attending class one evening per week and five Saturdays, students can earn nine credits per semester, which qualifies as full-time study. The entire 48-credit degree program can be completed in two years.
The Brentwood Campus offers graduate programs in education, criminal justice, library and information science and business administration and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Graduates of Brentwood Campus programs are eligible for the new Brentwood Alumni Scholarship, a one-third tuition discount.
