How do I apply for admission to LIU Brentwood?

What is required to apply to LIU Brentwood?
Graduate admission eligibility requirements are determined by each academic department and are outlined in the departmental information section of the website. Required credentials vary with each department. In general, a graduate candidate must submit the following:
- a completed Application for Graduate Admission
- one official transcript of all postsecondary coursework, including verification of conferred degrees
- individual departments may require additional documentation such as letters of recommendation and standardized test scores. Applicants are encouraged to refer to the departmental information sections for further information.
All candidates for graduate admission must have a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution. Candidates are urged to apply for admission no later than one month before the beginning of the semester. Most academic departments have a rolling admission policy whereby as student is notified of his or her admission decision as soon as all credentials are received and reviewed. Are there scholarships available for graduate students?
LIU Brentwood is committed to making a high quality private education affordable and offers opportunity for students to earn merit-based, alumni and academic achievement scholarships. Is the GRE or GMAT required?
The GRE is required for the Library Science and counseling programs when the applicant’s undergradaute GPA is below a 3.0.
The GRE and the GMAT are not required to apply to any graduate program at LIU Brentwood.
How soon will I be notified of my admission decision?
As soon as the Admissions Office of LIU Brentwood receives all required application credentials, your admissions file will be reviewed for acceptance and scholarship. A member of the admissions team will contact you immediately upon decision. You may call the Admissions Office at any time to check on your status of your application at 631-273-5112.

Which agencies accredit LIU Brentwood programs?
All degree programs of LIU Brentwood are registered with the New York State Education Department and accredited by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, 267-284-5000. The Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. LIU Brentwood’s Teacher Education Programs, which include master's degrees in childhood education, literacy education and teaching students with disabilities, is accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) for a period of five years, from January 9, 2009 to January 9, 2014. In addition, the master’s degree in Library and Information Science is accredited by the American Library Association.
Is there housing available for graduate students?
On-campus housing is not available at LIU Brentwood.
