Brooklyn, N.Y. – Students and alumni of eight participating colleges can tap into the expertise of top professionals on Tuesday, April 5, during the Best of Brooklyn Collegiate Job/Internship Fair, hosted by Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus. The job fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Campus’s Schwartz Gymnasium.

In addition to Long Island University, the participating institutions are Brooklyn College, Kingsborough Community College, Medgar Evers College, NYC College of Technology, Polytechnic Institute of New York University, St. Francis College and St. Joseph’s College.

Despite a struggling economy, more than 85 employers have already registered for the fair. “They are eager to tap into the qualified talent we have in our universities right over the bridge,” said Stephanie Steinberg, Brooklyn Campus assistant dean for career services and senior year advising. She added, “With this fair, our goal is to assist employers with their recruitment needs for full-time and part-time employees and to give our students an opportunity to secure internship and jobs.”

Representing a range of industries, the employers at the fair include Astoria Federal Savings Bank, Bed Bath & Beyond, City Department of Health, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, Madison Square Garden, NBC Universal, NYU Langone Medical Center, Simon & Schuster, State Department of Taxation and Finance and WNYC.

Long Island University is hosting the Best of Brooklyn Collegiate Job/Internship Fair for the second time.
“It is one of many services that LIU offers to students to support their career development,” said Steinberg, adding, “We also have a great collaboration with our partnering colleges.”

To be admitted to the fair, students must be currently enrolled in or be alumni of one of the eight participating colleges. Students must wear business attire, present their student ID and bring copies of their resume.
