Sacred Vision, an Evening of Classical Indian Dance at LIU Brooklyn’s Kumble Theater, June 29

Brooklyn, N.Y. – DanceFest INDIA!, in association with Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts at LIU Brooklyn, presents Sacred Vision, a radiant evening of classical Indian dance on Saturday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m.
The program features world-renowned dancer Sujata Mohapatra (Odissi) extolling the work of Padmabhibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Savitha Sastry (Bharata Natyam) dancing in the New York premiere of Soul Cages. The show also includes Ayona Bhaduri (Odissi), a former touring dancer with the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble, making her New York solo debut and a special Kathak duet by Prashant Shah and Ammr Vandal featuring classic work from legendary Kathak Guru Padmasree Kumudini Lakhia. Sacred Vision features a special collaboration with Brooklyn based photographer Manjari Sharma's Project Darshan.
Kumble Theater is located on Flatbush Avenue, between DeKalb Avenue and Willoughby Street. Tickets to Sacred Vision are $25 in advance; $30 at the door; and $20 for students and seniors with ID. DanceFest INDIA! is presented by Trinayan Dance Theater from Tuesday, June 25 until Sunday, June 30. The six-day festival celebrates the eternal beauty and zest for life of classical Indian dance. In addition to the concert at LIU, the festival includes master classes hosted by The School at Mark Morris Dance Group and a children's program of live dance at the Brooklyn's Children Museum.
