Description

Anayo Ikeme, Ed.D., RN, CDE, was born in Nigeria to Chief & Mrs. Patrick Ikeme. Her parents instilled in her a strong sense of honesty, discipline, hard work, competition for excellence and respect for all. Dr. Ikeme grew up internalizing her parents’ value of education as the master key for success. Their enduring value for education convinced them to send her abroad (USA) at age 18 to pursue the best form of education. Since then her love for academics and continued learning along with respect for others define her professional practice and who she is today.

Dr. Ikeme’s flexible educational experiences, curiosity for learning and transferable skills have exposed her to various work experiences including serving as an administrator in a military hospital, a university lecturer in public administration and business economics, a bedside nurse in a New York City flagship hospital, an advanced practice nurse-nurse educator, a clinical specialist and a nurse administrator in acute care health settings. Furthermore, she has held adjunct positions at various universities with a goal of active involvement in developing workforce-ready nursing professionals of the future and in creating and charting the direction of the science and art of nursing knowledge and practice that reflect evidence-based, client-focused, best interventions and practices.

As an educator, her goal is to create a transformative and nurturing environment that not only enables our student nurses to learn and achieve desired cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills and competencies but also to develop creative talents, flexibility and confidence within them to match the challenges of the nursing profession in meeting the contemporary and future health care needs and wellness services in America and globally.
