Description

Dr. Lawrence received an NSF Energy Related Postdoctoral Fellowship (1976-1977) to study synthetic models for photosystem reaction centers in photosynthesis at the University of Tubingen in West Germany. He was a postdoctoral fellow with Donald Sawyer at University of California, Riverside (1977-1979); a research fellow in the Department of Neurology at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City (1980-1983); and a research fellow in the Institute of Human Nutrition at Columbia University in New York City (1983-85). Dr. Lawrence also was a research consultant in the Department of Neurology at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons (1987-1989) and a science adviser in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s New York Regional Laboratories (1989-1992). He has spent sabbatical years in Tanzania (1992-1993), in the Philippines and Malaysia (1999-2000) and in Turkey (2006-2007). In addition to many publications in scientific journals, Dr. Lawrence is author of a book on dietary fats and health.
