Kate McLaughlin’s interests lie in the pedagogical and policy issues surrounding the inclusion of students with disabilities at the secondary level. Her work focuses primarily on the impact of individualized education plans on adolescents with disabilities and their families, and the consequent policy implications.
Prior to coming to LIU Brooklyn, Kate worked as a middle and high school special educator in New York City and a coordinator of special education services. In addition, she has supervised student fieldwork and taught courses at Syracuse University.
