Events & Conferences

Throughout the year, the English Department sponsors numerous events and on occasion hosts (or co-hosts) academic conferences. All of these programs provide students with the valuable opportunity to meet and mingle with other students, faculty members and guest speakers.

• M.F.A. Reading Series 
• Voices of the Rainbow: Celebrating the Oral Tradition 
• Starting from Paumanok (Lecture Series on American Literature) 
• Summer Writers Lab 
• International Ibsen Conference (2003)
• The International Rebecca West Society Conference (2003). This conference was sponsored by LIU Brooklyn and the English Department, but due to a faculty strike taking place at the time on the Brooklyn Campus, the conference was actually held at the Midtown Manhattan Mercantile Library.
