Educational Travel Opportunities
Honors Travel Seminars
Honors considers travel an essential component of a student’s education. Each year, we organize short-term, theme-focused travel seminars. The seminars are credit-bearing and typically offered during the week of spring break, the January intercession, or in summer. Recent seminars have included trips to Dublin, Ireland; Paris, France; Rome, Italy; and India.
Partners in the Parks:
The Brooklyn Campus Honors Program participates in an exciting collaboration between Honors Programs across the nation and the U.S. Park Service. Partners in the Parks is an outdoor experiential learning program that permits Honors students from around the nation to engage in week-long seminars in our National Parks. The seminars, led by Honors faculty and Park Service Rangers, involve camping, hiking, exploring the natural landscape, flora, and fauna. Students learn about conservation and the importance of preserving our natural heritage. LIU students have attended seminars in Joshua Tree National Park, California; Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah; Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Colorado; and Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.
