Faces of LIU
Faces of LIU
I came to New York to play Division I soccer for LIU Brooklyn. I soon discovered a new passion: film and video. Before long, LIU helped me land internships at EMI Music, ICED media and Brooklyn Cable Access Television.
- Nik Conklin, B.A. in Media Arts, Class of 2012; M.A. in Media Arts, Class of 2014
I was looking for a place where I could develop my passion for journalism. At LIU Brooklyn, I run the student newspaper. The campus’s Office of Career Services helped me land an internship at El Diario La Prensa, New York’s largest Spanish-language newspaper.
- Mabel Martinez, B.A. in Journalism, Class of 2013
In 2008, I left Colombia to build a career in broadcast news in the United States. At LIU Brooklyn, I became fluent in English and honed my skills in journalism. I interned at WCBS and, right after graduation, I covered the Little League World Series for ESPN.
