Teaching Fellows Program
LIU Brooklyn has worked successfully in collaboration with the New York City Teaching Fellows program and the New York City public schools since 2001 in the areas of Childhood Urban Education, Adolescent Urban Education and Teaching English as a Second Language as well as Teaching Children and Adolescents with Disabilities in Urban Contexts, and Students with Disabilities: Middle Childhood. The 2012 program is preparing secondary special education teachers exclusively.
Our experiences have allowed us to build a strong foundation. At the present time we have about 200 graduate students in the New York City Teaching Fellows program, of whom over more than 80 are preparing to graduate in September, 2012. In addition, more than 700 have already graduated. In June 2012, LIU Brooklyn accepted a new group of 92 Fellows.
