Your Enrollment Checklist: "To Do's"

Use the following checklist to complete your enrollment process. Though you may have already completed some of these tasks, it's a good idea to be aware of the steps that are required for you to successfully prepare and enroll as a new student and to be eligible to receive an iPad. Completing many of these steps will help you to meet the criteria for receiving your iPad.

Submit your tuition deposit and "Intent to Enroll" form.

Receipt of your tuition deposit will initiate the issuance of your I-20. The tuition deposit for international students is $200.00 USD unless another amount has been indicated in your acceptance letter. Students can make a credit card payment online through their MyLIU account. To learn more of how to pay the deposit go to

Once students receive their I-20 they are able to make an appointment to obtain a visa.

If you plan on living on campus, submit your housing form and housing deposit.

Once you receive your housing assignment, you are encouraged to communicate with your roommate(s). Get to know them before arriving on campus; compare notes about who is bringing what to college. In addition to talking with your roommates, be sure you check the inventory list of prohibited items so that you don't bring any "illegal" items on Move-In Day.

Move-In is an exciting day for you! Welcome to the Campus and get settled into the residence hall. More information about moving into University housing can be found at International students are encouraged to contact Residence Life to confirm the "move-in" date for International students prior to making International travel arrangements.

Sign up for your New Student Orientation Session.

Undergraduate first-year, transfer and International students note that special orientation session options are available to you! Students will learn about immigration issues, campus services and cultural adaptation techniques. Please RSVP to Steve Chin at

During orientation, undergraduate students will register for classes with the Office of Student Development and Retention. Graduate students are expected to contact their department to arrange for course registration. Undergraduate students attending the orientation will have the opportunity to take a placement examination. You may also attend an undergraduate orientation prior to international orientation.

Students must check in with Mr. Steve Chin, Director of International Student Office to confirm your attendance to LIU upon arrival. You must bring your I-20 and passport to Orientation.

In order for you to begin classes, you must provide the Office of Admissions with all final, official academic records. Transfer students, once all final transcripts and score reports have been received transferrable credit will be updated and posted to your student record.

Review your Bill.

Once registered for classes you will be able to take a look at your bill through the My LIU portal. It will provide you with up-to-date information about your account, such as a balance owed to the University and reflect payments made toward your balance.

Create a Financial Plan.

It is a good idea to talk with your family about other ways to finance your education. Contact the Office of Integrated Student Financial Services to discuss a reasonable payment plan that will help you to manage your financial balance.
