For Readmission/Visiting Students

StudentsAt LIU Brooklyn, we are always ready to accommodate students who have either had to interrupt their studies and want to be readmitted, or who would like to visit us from other accredited colleges and universities. The paragraphs below provide helpful information on how to apply for readmission or, how to apply as a visiting (non-matriculated) student.

Students Applying for Readmission

Students who have interrupted their studies for a semester (summer session not included) are required to file a readmission application with the Office of Admissions. This application should be presented at least one month before the beginning of the semester that the student wishes to enter. Readmitted students must fulfill graduation requirements in effect the year of readmission.

Probationary students who withdrew from the campus and who are applying for readmission must have the approval of the appropriate academic dean before the Office of Admissions will be able to administer an offer of readmission; students should visit admissions prior to visiting with any academic department to start their petition for readmission.

Students who have been suspended or dismissed for academic reasons, must have their applications for readmission referred to the appropriate committee on scholastic standing. Readmission applications for dismissed students must be filed no later than August 10 for the fall semester, January 19 for the spring semester and May 10 for the summer semester.

Visiting Students

Students who are attending other accredited colleges or universities and who are in good standing, can enroll at LIU Brooklyn as visiting (non-matriculated) students. Inquiries should be directed to the Office of Admissions. Enrollment as a visiting student does not imply admission to a degree program at LIU Brooklyn. Those visiting students who wish to pursue a degree here must formally apply through the Office of Admissions.  The application for visiting students is located on the Forms & Documents page.
