NCAA DIVISION I ATHLETICS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM CYCLE 3
In a letter dated Aug. 5, 2011, Joanne Glasser, chair of the NCAA Division I Committee on Athletics Certification, wrote to Provost Gale Stevens-Haynes to inform her that the committee determined that, after review of the University’s athletics self-study, LIU Brooklyn has been certified. This classification means that the institution is considered to be operating its athletics program in substantial conformity with operating principles adopted by the NCAA’s Division I membership and that any problems identified during the course of the self-study have been corrected or were not considered to be serious enough to affect the institution’s certification status.
We’re excited that the NCAA certification process is completed. This was accomplished through the hard work of a broad-based participation of LIU faculty, staff and students. This reaffirms that our mission, policies, goals and procedures are being met within the athletics department and for our student-athletes. This also reaffirms that the athletics department’s role within the university’s structure is operating with the highest amount of integrity.
