A placement with our program is an investment in your future; particularly if you are interested in the health professions, you are guaranteed administrative experience in program planning, social marketing, health education, assessments and evaluations.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES & WORK STUDY:
UHMS invites STUDENT ACTIVITIES & WORK STUDY students to gain health experiences via placements at our site. Student will receive a well-rounded experience including, but limited to three major assignments:
- Front Desk - providing customer services, clerical support such as filing, answering high volume phones, NYS Public Health Laws & HIPPA compliance as well as on-going quality assurance projects
- Health Education campaigns via events onsite at UHMS, the main campus and our community partners. Educational programs that aid our students in developing healthy habits for life
- Perform Student Engagement activities via a variety of surveys and focus groups to ascertain students’ perspective on relevant health issues, particularly those facing college students. Student may identify issues, develop/distribute surveys, create/compile data, review outcomes and offer suggestions for addressing identified issues.
UHMS also offers a NONPAID INTERNSHIP for those students seeking health and medical experience. The program offers selections from a wide-variety of projects that will provide you with valuable experience in the industry. Field Placement Opportunities
Field Placements at UHMS perform a dual purpose as additional support staff while also working on relevant health education and engagement programs to promote healthy living and produce positive change within the campus community. Health Hints Online Newsletter
Fall 2012, UHMS will launch its online newsletter “Health Hints: UHMS News You Can Use!” Health Hints will be issued each semester as an snapshot of featured services and campaigns. The newsletter will provide information on health issues facing college student with links to online resources.
You will have the opportunity to share opinions and compare yourself to college students across the nation.
The newsletter will provide information about access to services, expanded topics presented on “Let’s Talk Health” as well as relevant national health issues.

Let’s Talk Health - Radio Talk Show
Coming Fall 2012 is UHMS innovative health radio talk show written, produced, and presented by your peers. Let’s Talk Health will allow you to follow your favorite cast members and segment(s) such as Around the Campus; Health Hints-Feature Story; Twitter Topics; Ask the Doctor; and UHMS Updates.
Let’s Talk Health will discuss important health issues facing college students and present creative strategies for developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle now and in the future.
