How Do I Apply?
The Honors College welcomes applications from motivated students interested in pursuing any major with an enthusiasm for learning and a desire to develop themselves to their highest potential.
To join the Honors College, first apply to LIU Brooklyn. Then, please check the following eligibility requirements:
- Entering Freshmen - Selection for Honors College is based upon a student’s academic record and the successful completion of an interview.
- Current LIU Brooklyn Students - Students currently enrolled at LIU Brooklyn should contact one of the college directors to discuss specific requirements. Students who enter the college after their first semester are required to have strong academic records and excellent writing skills (a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher and strong grades in English 14 and/or 16 are good indicators). Students will complete any remaining humanities and social science core requirements in Honors. You will NOT be asked to retake Honors equivalents of any core courses that you already have completed.
- Transfer Students - Transfer students are accepted with a grade-point average of 3.3 or higher. Contact our college director for specific requirements.
If you meet these requirements, please download and complete the LIU Brooklyn Honors College Application, respond to the essay question on the form (current and transfer students may submit a paper from a college-level composition course), and submit your application. You may mail your application, submit it by email as an attachment, or bring it in person to Pratt 310, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
