Long Island generates electricity using old, inefficient and polluting power plants. Re-powering would allow the region to significantly improve the environmental and economic efficiencies of its plants, but there are substantial costs involved.
The public is invited to attend a panel discussion “Perspectives on Re-powering Long Island,” which will address this timely topic at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, N.Y. on Thursday, January 31, 2008. It will take place in Hillwood Commons Cinema at 6:30 p.m. Registration is recommended. The discussion is open to the public. Admission is free.
A distinguished panel is led and moderated by Dr. Matthew Cordaro, a professor in the C.W. Post College of Management and a highly regarded utility expert. Joining him are special guests Kevin S. Law, Long Island Power Authority president and CEO, and Steve Bellone, Town of Babylon supervisor. The discussion is co-sponsored by the C.W. Post Center for Management Analysis and the C.W. Post Student Affairs-Faculty Partnership Initiative (SAFPIC).
This event is part of “Focus the Nation,” a national initiative that raises awareness and encourages dialogue about the impact of global warming and other environmental issues.
The discussion is open to the public. Admission is free. The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University is located at 720 Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) in Brookville, N.Y. For more information, call (516) 299-2255 or e-mail
