Fresh from giving a lecture at Yale University and just in time for Halloween, C.W. Post bat expert Dr. William Schutt will regale the audience at a Long Island environmental fund-raiser with tales of vampire bats and other bloodsuckers.
The benefit for Seatuck Environmental Association also features Long Island microbrews (including Blind Bat Brewery, of course) and live music by The Decoys following Dr. Schutt’s presentation.
“This is certainly going to be a first for me, since I’ve never opened for a band before,” said Schutt, a professor of biology at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville. He’s the author of “Dark Banquet: Blood and the Curious Lives of Blood Feeding Creatures.” Schutt was scheduled to speak Thursday, Oct. 20 in the Ostrom Lecture Series at Yale and Friday at Belvedere Castle in Central Park.
