Post Theatre Company Presents Re-Membering Antigone

Brookville, N.Y.—The Post Theatre Company's 2011-2012 season begins on Friday, September 30 at 7:30 p.m. with a performance of Re-Membering Antigone.
Re-Membering Antigone is a contemporary retelling of the Sophocles classic Antigone. This movement-based adaption is highly stylized and based in the Suzuki method, a rigorous physical discipline, designed to increase an actor's focus and concentration. Antigone, a Greek tragedy written by Sophocles, explores choices and their consequences, custom and tradition, gods and religion and betrayal.
The Post Theatre Company, the not-for-profit resident theatre company of the Department of Theatre, Film and Dance at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, will present six performances of Re-Membering Antigone.
Directed by Professor of Theatre Maria Porter, the performances will run on September 30, October 1 and October 6-9, 2011. All shows will be at 7:30 p.m. except for a “pay-what-you-wish” matinee at 2 p.m. on October 7, and a 3 p.m. matinee on October 9. The matinee on October 7 will be preceded by a Hutton House L ecture by Professor Rick DesRochers and immediately followed by a question & answer session with the cast.
Tickets for Re-Membering Antigone are $10 for the general public and $5 for students and seniors (general admission seating).
