LIU Post Hosts Summer Institute on Educating Children with Down Syndrome

LIU Post's Center for Community Inclusion will host a three-day institute on educating children with Down syndrome beginning Tuesday Aug. 7.
The institute will consist of six three-hour workshop sessions that focus on functional assessment and positive behavior supports, early intervention and preschool programming, speech and language interventions and inclusion programming for elementary age students.
The institute was designed to serve parents of infants, toddlers and preschoolers with Down syndrome, family members of elementary-age children with Down syndrome, special educators and related service personnel, speech language pathologists, and college students preparing to work with children with Down syndrome, including majors in general education, special education, speech language and psychology.
Sessions will be held at LIU Post, Aug. 7-9, in Room 119 of Humanities Hall. Participants can attend one or more session. There are fees for the sessions.
