Brookville, N.Y. -- State and local elected officials helped Long Island University administrators cut the cake at a kick-off ceremony for the University's new brand at LIU Post, formerly known as the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, on Wednesday, February 1, 2012.

Accompanied by rousing music from the LIU Post Pep Band, New York State Senator Lee Zeldin, Assemblyman Michael Montesano, Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto, Brookville Mayor Caroline Bazzini and Nassau County Civil Service Commissioner Karl Kamp ('72, '76) joined University President Dr. David Steinberg in the ceremony in Hillwood Commons, the campus' student center.

Also taking part were LIU Post Provost Dr. Paul Forestell, Chancellor Tess Mullarkey, Student Government Association President Jared Ciborowski, LIU Post Alumni Association President Bob Jahelka ('84) and Vice President Marguerite Barone '69, '70, '86. LIU Post and the university"s other five campuses adopted new visual identities in the rebranding initiative designed to create a unified identity, reaffirm LIU's student-centric focus and distinguish the university in the higher education sector.

The rebranding is accompanied by a major advertising campaign encouraging prospective students to "Find Out How Good You Really Are." The ads, featuring LIU Post students and alumni, are seen on television, heard on the radio and displayed in the New York metro area"s most prominent locations.

"LIU Post is proud to share its growth and quality education through a new forward-looking and impactful branding campaign," Dr. Forestell said. "The new initiative is designed to build broader recognition of the value of an LIU Post education, differentiate the institution from its private and public competitors, and continue to raise the university's profile nationally and internationally."
