Brookville, N.Y. -- The LIU Post School of Continuing Education, in cooperation with the College of Education and Information Sciences, will hold a series of classes to assist students who are taking the Multi Subject 002 exam, which is required for Early Childhood and Special Education teacher certification. These review sessions will be taught by expert faculty in each of four disciplines (ELA, Math, Science, and History), and will be offered over a six-week period during the spring semester.
Approximately three hours of in-class time will be devoted to each subject area, which will give you a quick overview of topics you might need to brush up on. Although this class is not a substitute for having studied each subject in depth, you will be given the confidence, test-taking skills and extra refresher that is needed to complete this important prerequisite to becoming a fully certified teacher in New York State.
The prep course will be held once a week for six weeks from 6-9 p.m. as follows: February 8, 15, 22, 29, March 7, and 14, from 6-9 p.m. Two subject areas will be covered at each 3-hour session, with breaks during and between each session. Dr. Margaret Boorstein, professor of geology and chair of the Earth and Environmental Science Department, Dr. John Lutz, associate professor of English and chair of the English Department, Dr. Shelton Rothman, professor of mathematics and Dr. Michael Hogan, associate dean, College of Education and Information Sciences, will teach the various courses.
Tuition is $120 for the full series of six sessions. For more information, or to apply by phone, please contact LIU Post's School of Continuing Education at (516) 299-2236 or (516) 299-2584.
