LIU Tilles Center Hosts Usdan’s Inaugural “First Class” Exhibit Featuring Local High School Talent

Brookville, N.Y. – LIU Post’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts will showcase a free public art exhibit by the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the renowned summer arts day camp whose alumni include Natalie Portman and Mariah Carey and features more than 40 programs in music, dance, theater, visual arts, creative writing, nature and ecology and chess.

“First Class” is the inaugural exhibit of artistic works by high school students of Usdan’s 2011 Portfolio Preparation Track. The exhibit will go on display in the LIU Tilles Center Atrium beginning on Thursday, March 8, and will conclude with a reception on Thursday, March 22.

Usdan’s “First Class” features six of Long Island's talented 11th and 12th grade artists, each showcasing work that highlights the conceptual and creative depth of their talent. Genres include life drawing, still life, self-portrait, landscape, photography, and sculpture. The artists are: Jessica Boyd of Shreiber High School, Manhasset, N.Y.; Jessica Curry of Deer Park High School, Deer Park, N.Y.; Denise Losee of Mepham High School, Bellmore, N.Y.; Emily Rabinowitz of Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School, Old Bethpage, N.Y.; and Nicole Wildstein of Jericho High School, Jericho, N.Y.

Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post (formerly known as the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University) in Brookville, is Long Island's premier concert hall. LIU Tilles Center is currently celebrating 30 years of world-class performances and hosts more than a 100 performances each year. Its concert hall seats 2,242 people and features orchestral performances, fully-staged operas, ballets and modern dance, along with Broadway shows, and all forms of music, dance and theater from around the world.
