Sandra Mardenfeld, director of LIU Post's Journalism Program and assistant professor of media arts, won first place in the Online Arts category at the Press Club of Long Island's (chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists) 2012 Media Awards on June 7, 2012. Professor Mardenfeld wrote a blog review of the production "Snow White," presented by Company XIV at the 303 Bond Street Theatre in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. An accomplished writer and editor, Sandra Mardenfeld has written for more than 50 newspapers, magazines and websites. Her features, articles, essays and reviews have run in such publications as Car & Travel, Long Island Bride and Groom, Allure, The New York Times Book Review, Parents and Children, Long Island Wedding Pages, The Daily News, Jewelry Connoisseur, ModernBride.com, Time Out New York, Stagebill, The Christian Science Monitor and Entrepreneur.com.
She received a master's degree in magazine journalism at New York University and a bachelor's degree in journalism at The State University College of Buffalo. She has worked as the associate news editor at Freemarketnews.com, as the managing editor for Playgirl and Fashion Almanac magazines, and as the Broadway editor of Playbill. She is a candidate for a Ph.D. in Communications, Information and Library Science, and Media Studies at Rutgers University.
