LIU Post Student Alina Perez Elected to the NASW NYS Chapter Board of Directors

Brookville, N.Y. -- Alina Perez, a student enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at LIU Post, has been elected as the MSW Student Representative on the National Association of Social Workers, New York Chapter, Board of Directors.
In this role, she will represent all New York State master of social work students and identify any issues or concerns of her fellow students and advocate on their behalf. Perez currently serves as a liaison between the MSW Graduate Student Association at LIU Post and the NASW-NYS Nassau Division Steering Committee.
A resident of Hempstead, N.Y., Perez is a part-time student in the program and has a bachelor's degree in media arts from LIU Brooklyn. She was recently awarded the National Association of Puerto Rican-Hispanic Social Workers Student Scholarship and the Outstanding Community Service Award from the Nassau County Department of Social Services.
"The Social Work Department faculty and staff are very proud of Alina," said Dr. Elissa Giffords, associate professor of social work. "We know she will represent her peers superbly and that her participation on the NASW NYS Chapter Board will be mutually beneficial."
