LIU Post to Hold Long Island Chapter Meeting of Project Management Institute

Brookville, N.Y. -- LIU Post's Computer Science and Management Engineering Department, approved in 2012 as a Registered Education Provider for the Project Management Institute, will host a general meeting of the institute's Long Island chapter Feb. 13.

The event, which will feature a knowledge café roundtable and presentation by digital advertising guru Kevin Kelly, will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville N.Y.

Kelly, co-president and chief creative operative of BigBuzz Marketing Group, is known as a professional who has pushed the limits of innovation in the digital advertising industry since the early 1990s. He started his career as an audio engineer in New York City for clients like Madonna, Steve Windwood, and Phil Collins.

The PMI Long Island Chapter is the premier multi-disciplined project management association in our community that provides a forum and support for project management practitioners. It is dedicated to serving all businesses, organizations and educational institutions throughout Long Island.  The Long Island Chapter of PMI covers Nassau and Suffolk counties. Founded in 1999, it was the first in New York State to become incorporated (June 2000), and has grown in membership to over 850 members, representing more than 50 different Long Island and New York City employers.

LIU Post's Computer Science and Management Engineering Department was named a Registered Education Provider by PMI in 2012, joining more than 1,500 REPs in more than 80 countries. The REP program approval was based on the coursework the Master of Science in Management Engineering program. According to Collins C Williams II, director of LIU Post's PMI Initiatives, adjunct professor of management engineering and president-elect of the Long Island Chapter, the REP designation means LIU Post has met PMI’s rigorous quality criteria for course content, instructor qualification, and instructional design.

At the chapter meeting, Kelly will address the topic "Managing your Brand."

Fee:  $5 Chapter Member Pre-Registered & Pre-Paid, $10 at the door, 
          $15 Non-Member Pre-Registered & Pre-Paid,  $20 at the door,
          FREE for veterans and full-time students who pre-register and show a valid student ID at the door,
          $5 for people showing a valid student ID at the door who did not pre-register.
