Brookville, N. Y. - The LIU Post Office of Veteran and Military Affairs is inviting current and prospective veteran college students and students eligible for VA educational entitlements to participate in its first annual Veterans Summit.
The one-day intensive conference, scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2013 and hosted at LIU Post in Brookville, N.Y. will provide veterans and their families the opportunity to attend a variety of informative sessions that are designed to assist them in learning more about available veteran benefits as well as contributing to their continued professional and personal development.
Each session is geared toward fostering the transition of our veteran and veteran dependent community members as they navigate their professional and personal development. VA education, VA medical, VA claims, social security disability claims, resume writing, career counseling, and school finance will be among the available sessions throughout the day.
Speakers from various organizations, services, and more will be available to answer questions and provide invaluable information regarding education, medical, and other services. In addition, a service fair will be hosted by a variety of community programs, outreach opportunities, and Veterans Services Organizations.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our current and prospective veteran and veteran dependent students to learn about the myriad opportunities and resources that are available from local, state and federal agencies and departments. The ability to have such a breadth of offerings covering education, medical, legal, and professional development provided by experts in the respective areas also highlights the cooperative efforts of all participants who will share their expertise and knowledge to our students,” explained Adam Grohman, the coordinator of Veteran and Military Affairs at LIU Post. “We are excited to provide an opportunity for our veteran and veteran dependents to learn more about the entitlements that they and their family members so richly deserve based on their honorable service to the nation and to the world.”
