LIU Post Promotes Healthy Lifestyle with Fitversity Mondays

MondayMileLIU is partnering with The Monday Campaigns—a nonprofit public health initiative that dedicates the first day of every week to health—to bring Fitversity Mondays to LIU Post in order to promote well-being and health on campus. The program will continue through April.

Fitversity Mondays are meant to provide a little extra motivation to start off your week on the right path. The purpose of the program is to promote an all-around healthy lifestyle to the LIU community. Each Monday, there will be a different Fitversity initiative, including nutritional counseling, suggestions for healthy food options, encouragement to attend open swim times at the Pratt Recreation Center, walking meet-ups, and total body workout classes. On the final day of the program, April 28, there will be an Arboretum Walk and Labyrinth Ceremony.

“We are excited to start Fitversity Mondays on the LIU Post campus and encourage students, faculty, and staff to participate and live a healthier and more active lifestyle!” said Abagail Van Vlerah, dean of students at LIU Post.

Participants can stop by the Campus Concierge desk to pick up a free pedometer and report card, where they can log their Monday activities to earn prizes. For more information, call the Campus Concierge at 516-299-2800.

April 7

  • Mindful Mondays: Managing Stress and Anxiety, Hillwood Commons, room 106, 4 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Mmmm Mondays: Choose healthier options at the Hillwood Commons Café
  • Century Club: Free swim, Pratt Recreation Center, 7 to 9 a.m., 12:45 to 2 p.m., and 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Monday Mile or Total Body: Meet at the Hillwood Commons flag pole at 12:20 p.m. for a walk around campus or a lunch time workout at 12:30 p.m.
  • Breast Health Education Program: Presented by The Maurer Foundation, Hillwood Commons, room 106, 1 to 2 p.m.

April 14

  • Mindful Mondays: Nutritional Counseling, Hillwood Commons, room 106, 4 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Mmmm Mondays: Choose healthier options at the Hillwood Commons Café
  • Century Club: Free swim, Pratt Recreation Center, 7 to 9 a.m., 12:45 to 2 p.m., and 6 to 9 p.m.

April 21

  • Mindful Mondays: Substance Abuse, Hillwood Commons, room 106, 4 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Mmmm Mondays: Choose healthier options at the Hillwood Commons Café
  • Century Club: Free swim, Pratt Recreation Center, 7 to 9 a.m., 12:45 to 2 p.m., and 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Monday Mile or Total Body: Meet at the Hillwood Commons flag pole at 12:20 p.m. for a walk around campus or a lunch time workout at 12:30 p.m.

April 28

  • Mindful Mondays: Meditation, Hillwood Commons, room 106, 4 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Mmmm Mondays: Choose healthier options at The Hillwood Commons Café
  • Century Club: Free swim, Pratt Recreation Center, 7 to 9 a.m., 12:45 to 2 p.m., and 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Program Finale: Aboretum Walk and Labyrinth Ceremony. Meet at the Labyrinth at 12:30 p.m.
