Irwin Tantleff will hold a lecture on “Common Challenges for Startups,” at the Outside the Box lecture series on Thursday, April 10, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., in the lower level of the B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library, room 130.

Tantleff has extensive entrepreneurial and management experience in the retail food industry, real estate, and trade associations. In addition, he has experience with executive and board-level roles in various social enterprises. He was the founder and CEO of IJT Limited, a $100 million customer-driven supermarket company that was the first food industry retailer in the tri-state area to implement UPC scanning. He is also a business educator and mentor, having served as adjunct professor at the College of Management at LIU and NYU’s Stern Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

“Tantleff brings uniquely valuable insights based on his experiences across several industries,” said Andrew Rosman, dean of the College of Management at LIU Post. “He’ll discuss common issues that every new venture must manage, whether it’s a traditional bricks-and-mortar business or a high-tech venture.”

The Outside the Box informal lectures are free and open to the LIU community. Jeff Leventhal of Workmarket will hold the final lecture in the series for the semester on April 16.
