In its year-end rankings report for 2013, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) rated LIU Post’s athletics program sixth in the nation among NCAA Division II institutions, the highest ranking ever achieved by LIU Post.
Having started the year in 38th place among 147 rivals, the Pioneers’ soccer, field hockey, and volleyball earned the program a 32-place jump in the rankings to sixth place. The standings are determined by the finishes for all sports in an academic year. Rankings are released throughout the year, and LIU Post is the highest-ranked team among the East Coast Conference institutions thus far.
Explaining the improvement, NACDA noted in a press release, “LIU Post earned points this fall for field hockey’s appearance in the NCAA title game, as well as men's soccer's East Region final appearance in the NCAA Tournament and women's volleyball's bid to the NCAA Division II National Quarterfinal.”
