LIU Post Media Majors Attend Press Day for Women’s Amateur Golf Championship
Communications & Marketing, LIU,
LIU Post School of Visual and Performing Arts students attended a press conference for the 114th U.S. Women's Amateur Golf Championship at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y., on May 12.
The students learned about the history of the golf tournament, which provides an opportunity for woman golfers from all over the world to compete each summer. At the press conference, each LIU Post student received a press kit, learned about volunteer opportunities, and watched a video of some of the golfers who will participate in August. The press conference was organized by LIU Post graduates Kerry Gillick-Goldberg ('93), principal of KGG Enterprises, a public relations, marketing, and event firm, and Harlan Friedman ('95) of The Harlan Group.
The LIU Post students who attended the press conference included Eddie Richter of Stockholm, a sophomore and film major; Moa Golster of Stockholm, a sophomore and journalism major; Christian Arnold of Centerport, N.Y., a recent graduate with an electronic media degree; and Abby Brosnan of Dix Hills, N.Y., a sophomore majoring in broadcasting.
The Women's Amateur has long identified some of golf's greatest women players, many of whom have gone on to successful professional careers. The championship will be held from Aug. 4 to 10 at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y. The public is invited to attend. One hundred fifty-six players, mostly high school and college students, will play.
