Long Island University and Bethpage Federal Credit Union jointly announce the credit union’s corporate sponsorship of $1.5 million to name LIU Post’s stadium, currently under renovation.
The new Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium facilities will open in Fall 2014 and will not only serve as home field for the university’s intercollegiate football, lacrosse, and field hockey teams, but also as a community gathering space for camps, high school activities and community events. The stadium will feature an all-new, high-tech press box and sound system, signage, bleachers and grassy-hill seating for picnicking.
“We are excited and honored to partner with such a community-minded Long Island institution as Bethpage Federal Credit Union,” says LIU president Kimberly R. Cline. “Not only will this benefit our students, it will make LIU’s athletic facilities an even greater benefit for our extended community. Bethpage Federal Credit Union has a history of civic engagement and a gift from them is a fitting finale for Phase 1 of our stadium renovation campaign. We are grateful for the generosity that has made this remarkable transformation possible, including the $1.5 million naming sponsorship and the $1.5 million in additional contributions from alumni and friends.”
The stadium sponsorship marks the beginning of an innovative new partnership between the university and New York State’s largest credit union. A new “high tech” branch of Bethpage Federal Credit Union is scheduled to open on campus this summer, and will provide banking and financial services to the LIU Post community, as well as provide on-site learning experience for LIU Post students. In addition, the credit union will co-sponsor numerous LIU activities that offer benefits to the wider Long Island community such as financial literacy seminars and summer sports camps.
“Bethpage is dedicated to supporting educational initiatives here on Long Island. We are thrilled to join together with LIU Post to form this exciting partnership that will surely have a positive impact for many,” said Kirk Kordeleski, President and CEO, Bethpage. “Long Island is fortunate to have LIU Post, one of our country’s leading universities, right in our own backyard.”
An announcement event to introduce the new stadium name will be held at Hillwood Commons on the LIU Post campus on Wednesday, March 19 at 12:30 and is open to LIU students, faculty and staff as well as members of the Brookville community.
