The Kronos Quartet, one of the most groundbreaking musical ensembles of our time, makes its debut performance at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m. in Hillwood Recital Hall. The intimate concert space will afford audiences the opportunity to enjoy a program ranging from Laurie Anderson’s Flow to the String Quartet No. 6 of Philip Glass in close proximity to the musicians. John Schaefer, host and producer of WNYC’s Soundcheck will lead a pre-performance talk at 6:45 p.m. Tickets for the pre-performance lecture with Mr. Schaefer are $5 and available only to performance ticketholders.

Earlier on March 29, the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia returns to Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at 2 p.m. with The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites. Featuring evocative music, stunning visual effects, and innovative puppetry, the triple-bill celebrates three of Eric Carle's most beloved tales.

There is a family workshop, available to ticketholders, preceding the performance at 1 p.m. The workshop includes a craft and time to explore the stories that children and their parents will see on stage.  Snacks are included in the $5 fee.

Tickets for the Kronos Quartet are $63 and $43. And tickets to see Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia in The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites are $23 and $15.
