LIU Post instructors teamed up with teachers from the Roslyn Public Schools on Long Island, N.Y., in a month-long program that taught more than 25 teachers from Mentou Gou School District in Beijing, China, about the American educational system.
The teachers, who were hosted at LIU Post, arrived from Beijing in January and were mentored by Roslyn Public School’s English language learner teachers on the American high school system. They also met with professors from the LIU Post College of Education, Information, and Technology, and faculty from LIU Post’s teaching english to speakers of other Languages (TESOL) program.
“It was a pleasure to partner with the Roslyn Public Schools and host the teachers on our campus,” said Robert Hannafin, dean of the College of Education, Information, and Technology at LIU Post. “Not only was our faculty able to mentor them about the American school system, but we were able to gain an understanding on their education system as well.”
