Youth Camps

ELECTIVES

Campers will attend their elective one hour every day.

Fine Art:This high quality fine art class offers art instruction that goes far beyond cut and paste, and arts & crafts. It teaches a camper how to "see" in a new way and offers basic understanding of how to draw and paint. (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Drum Circle:This class is a fun, multicultural, mixed level group, with freely improvised rhythms, and the music is created on the spot, in the moment. Drum circles create team building, community and spirit building. (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Dance: This class can be for the beginner or more advanced dancer. We pride ourselves on providing a low stress, no pressure environment where young dancers can have fun while gaining relationships that will last a lifetime. (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Musical Theatre: Our Musical Theatre class combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Practicing the use of emotional content and storytelling, to communicate through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of musical theatre. (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Jazz Band: Improvisation is one of the basic elements of jazz. Improvisation is the art of "composing in the moment", demanding that every musician rise to a certain level of creativity. (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Music Theory: In our Music Theory class we will study how music works. It examines the language and notation of music. Music Theory will discover the elements of music: rhythm, harmony, melody, structure, form and texture. (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Into to Vocal Jazz: Jazz singing is where the camper will explore how their voice can
match the instruments in their stylistic approach to the lyrics, improvised or otherwise, or through scat singing. (Senior Classes Only)

Brass Ensemble: Brass Players will be exposed to different genres of music arranged for Brass Instruments. *Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium/Tuba* (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Woodwind Ensemble: Woodwind players will be exposed to different genres of music arranged for Woodwind Instruments. *Oboe, Piccolo, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon* (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Guitar Ensemble: Guitar players will be exposed to different genres of music arrange for guitars. (Junior and Senior Classes offered)

Investigating Music: Campers will discover pitched and unpitched instruments. Create songs and movements to understand the beginning concepts of music. (Junior Classes Only)
