LIU Post has installed an automated Building Management System (BMS) to control many of its HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems on campus. This computerized system is used to operate these systems at their highest level of efficiency while effectively scheduling them to meet program needs. This allows better comfort levels to occupants while lowering operating costs.
The system is constantly being monitored and expanded to capture additional opportunities for energy savings. No construction or renovation project on campus is performed without being evaluated for additional energy savings in HVAC or any other aspect.
