Description

Dr. Louisa Kramer-Vida has been an Assistant Professor at LIU Post since 2008. She became Chair of her department in 2012. Dr. Kramer-Vida teaches master’s and doctoral level literacy and special education classes, and she chairs and is a member of dissertation committees. Dr. Kramer-Vida was an Adjunct Associate Professor at LIU Post and LIU Brentwood from 1994-2007. Here she taught graduate level literacy courses. She was also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Dowling College from 1991-1995 where she taught both graduate and undergraduate literacy classes. Dr. Kramer-Vida has also been invited to teach 2 summer institutes for Molloy College related to the ELA Common Core Learning Standards.

Dr. Kramer-Vida has published 13 peer reviewed articles and 14 non-peer reviewed articles or short pieces. She has co-authored accreditation documents and solely written and received competitive and formula grants. As part of a work group, she co-authored NYSED documents. Dr. Kramer-Vida also developed a conference program and an annual report for a state level professional organization. Additionally, she developed a new course and revised curriculum manuals for LIU Post. Dr. Kramer-Vida also developed some on-line course sessions for BOCES, and is the author/editor of 27 school district level curriculum guides. She has been a Reading Consultant for a math workbook, and a Reading Consultant for 12 educational kits and 8 filmstrip series published by National Geographic.

Dr. Kramer-Vida has presented 100 times on administrative and curricular topics on the international, national, regional, state, and local levels.

She is a member of 2 college level advisory boards, and a member of numerous professional organizations. Dr. Kramer-Vida has held very active leadership positions for the National Council of Teachers of English and its affiliates, NYSEC and LILAC.

Dr. Kramer-Vida is a consultant for local school districts and BOCES, and she was a Pre-K to 12 District Supervisor of ELA, Reading, and Library Media, a Pre-K to 12 Central Office and Building Administrator, a Pre-K to 12 Director of State and Federal Projects, a Director of Educational Services for a central high school district, a Title I Supervising Remedial Specialist, a classroom Reading Specialist, and a 5th and 6th grade teacher.
