Continuing Education Programs


To be registered for one of our Continuing Education programs, please complete our registration form (PDF) following the instructions below:

  • Select the course(s) you want.
  • Make payment by check (to "Long Island University") or credit card — MasterCard, VISA or Discover. Cash cannot be accepted.
  • Submit your registration form by email, mail, fax or in person.
In Person:

The College of Arts, Communications & Design is located Kahn Hall, Suite 100, on the LIU Post campus, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, N.Y. 11548-1300. Early registration is encouraged, as space in many classes is limited.

By Mail:

Mailed-in registration is accepted. Forward the registration form with a check made payable to Long Island University, or completed credit card information to LIU Post, 720 Northern Blvd., Kahn Hall, Ste.100, Brookville, N.Y. 11548, ATTN: Tonya Klopfer.

By Fax:

Call 516-299-4180 and include your credit card information on your registration form. Only one person may register per form. Additional forms may be printed. Registration will not be accepted without Social Security Number (or Student ID Number) and full payment of tuition. Checks, money orders or credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, AMEX or Discover) will be accepted toward payment of tuition. Please make checks payable to Long Island University.

Certificate Requirements

To earn the certificate in Interior Design and Decoration, students must successfully complete eight courses (six required courses and two electives).

Introduction to Interior Design

Lynn Kaplan, ASID
This introductory yet comprehensive course will cover the basics of Interior Design including the elements of space, the process of interior design, the qualities of a good design, drawings designers use, and basic building structure. You will learn how to approach an Interior Design Project, how to decide which drawings are needed and how to interact with clients. This course is a great beginning to a lifelong career in design or a terrific enhancement of your decorating skills for personal enrichment.

History of Furnishings

Lynn Kaplan, ASID
This class is a comprehensive review from the earliest caves to the present day. Topics included European, Middle Eastern and Asian styles with discussions of their motifs, ideas and influences.
