The Palmer School of Library and Information Science operates at four convenient locations around the New York metropolitan area: the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville; the Brentwood Campus of Long Island University in Brentwood; New York University’s Bobst Library in Manhattan; and the Westchester Graduate Campus of Long Island University located on the campus of SUNY Purchase College. Online and blended learning course options are offered. Staff members and resources are available at each location, giving Palmer School students full support at every stage of their academic careers. Courses are taught in the evenings and on weekends and advisors help each student to create a flexible schedule that works with their jobs and family responsibilities.
The Palmer School has offered master’s courses in Library and Information Science at the Brentwood Campus of Long Island University since 2002. Classes are offered at convenient evening and weekend hours, mindful of the working adult. Students are only required to take one class at the C.W. Post Campus in Brookville.
Westchester Graduate Campus
of Long Island University
The Palmer School offers selected master’s courses toward the M.S. degree in Library and Information Science and the Advanced Certificate in Archives and Records Management at the Westchester Graduate Campus of Long Island University in Purchase, (Westchester County), N.Y. The Westchester Graduate Campus is served by bus from the White Plains Metro North Station and is easily accessible by car from several major highways. M.S. students in the Westchester program must take three credits at the C.W. Post Campus or in Manhattan.
Master’s courses in Library and Information Science have been offered in Manhattan since 1986. Since the Fall of 1993, the Palmer School has based its operations in Manhattan in the New York University Bobst Library (70 Washington Square South) where the Palmer School has offices and classrooms. Students can complete the full M.S. in Library and Information Science degree at this site and the Advanced Certificate in Archives & Records Management. Students are given on-site borrowing privileges to NYU’s Bobst Library.
C.W. Post Campus
of Long Island University
The Master of Science degree program in Library and Information Science, the Ph.D. In Information Studies, and the Advanced Certificate in Archives & Records Management are offered at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, N.Y. Classes are held in smart technology classrooms in the B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library. Students have access to extensive online research databases, a 2.8 million volume library and several computer centers and wireless hotspots.
