Profiles in Success
Student, Computer Science - College of Education, Information and Technology
Andrew Albrechtsen has the business drive of an entrepreneur and the creative energy of an artist. He satisfies both impulses at LIU Post with a major in computer science and a minor in photography. Andrew designed his first website at age 15; today, he designs sites for businesses and manages his own site (www.photographyavenue.com), where he sells his nature and still-life photos. Along with his studies, Andrew stays busy with a seat on the board of the Rainbow Alliance, a leadership position with the Student Art League and part-time work at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts box office.
“The professors here at LIU Post are really knowledgeable,” he said. “Knowing about computers before starting college was definitely helpful, but my education is putting my knowledge into perspective – showing me how my skills, and the new skills I’m learning in college, will move me toward my professional goals. Meanwhile, studying photography with Professor Joan Powers has been wonderful, and some of the photos I take for my portfolio in the photography classes are now available for sale on my website.”
