Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of History at LIU Post. Ours is a highly respected department and forms an essential component of a liberal arts education. We are dedicated to the idea that understanding the past is essential to a free and engaged citizenry. By studying history one acquires not only knowledge about past social conflicts, influential ideas and decisive events, but insights into how our contemporary world came to be. Our undergraduate and graduate history programs prepare students for a wide range of careers—in journalism, education, law, business, public service and public history.
The Department of History takes pride in the quality of its courses and the attention we give students to learn how to analyze evidence, write clearly and communicate ideas. All of our faculty members are active scholars, recognized in their fields, and committed to bringing the latest scholarship into their classrooms for debate and inquiry.
I invite you to explore this Web site and its links to learn more about our faculty and our programs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
