Program Requirements for Continuing Students

Students enrolled in the B.S. in Psychology program take the following courses:

PSY 1,2 General Psychology I & II

or

PSY 3, 4 Principles of Psychology I & II
PSY 21, 22 Experimental Psychology I & II
PSY 53 Psychological Statistics I

These courses are required of all psychology majors, and it is urged that they be taken as early as possible. The student elects at least five additional psychology courses, which may include one PSY 41 Special Topics in Psychology. A minimum of 36 credit hours in psychology is required.

Additional Requirements:

MTH 3 College Algebra and Trigonometry and MTH 7 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I

or

MTH 7, 8 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I & II
BIO 103, 104 General Biology I & II
CHM 3, 4 Principles of Chemistry

Students planning graduate study in psychology are advised to take the following courses:

PSY 25 Developmental Psychology: Childhood
PSY 30 Personality: Research and Theory
PSY 32 Social Psychology
PSY 37 Neuroscience
PSY 54 Psychological Statistics II
PSY 57 Cognitive Psychology
PSY 61 Historical Foundations of Contemporary Psychology
PSY 62 Learning and Memory
PSY 63 Abnormal Psychology
PSY 91, 92 Problems in Psychological Research I & II

Those students planning to apply to medical school, dental school, or veterinary school will need to take additional mathematics and science courses.
