Questions About Studying Abroad
Who is Eligible?
All students in good standing, with the approval of the departmental chair and the LIU Post Campus Director of Study Abroad, are eligible for study abroad after one full-time semester.
Is Financial Aid Available?
For all LIU Post-affiliated programs, students may use the financial aid to which they are normally entitled, including most scholarships. For non-affiliated programs, students must apply directly to the sponsoring institution for financial aid. Additional costs will include air fare and spending money.
When Can You Go?
Students can start the program any time from the beginning of their sophomore year through the first semester of their senior year, if they attend a LIU Post-affiliated program. Students who attend a non-affiliated program must start the program before the beginning of their senior year. Students may take part in the program for one or two semesters, during the Fall, Spring or Summer.
How to Apply?
Make an appointment to visit the Study Abroad Office, located in Winnick House. The Study Abroad Director can provide information, applications and the necessary forms. The Study Abroad Office also houses an extensive library of foreign study catalogues and references to meet every student’s needs. Students studying through a non-affiliated program must still meet with the Study Abroad Office to determine transfer credits.
All forms must be submitted to the Study Abroad Office by March 15 for the Fall semester and by October 15 for the Spring semester. Non-affiliated programs may have their own deadlines.
