Minor in Journalism

Undergraduate students at LIU Post who are pursuing a major in another subject area can apply specific courses (18 credits) toward a minor in journalism. A minor adds value to your degree and a competitive edge in the job market by providing you with additional skills and enhanced knowledge in another field of study. This is particularly valuable in journalism, where an area of content expertise is often a job expectation.

A minor in Journalism requires 18 credits in JOU 3, 4, 5, 41, CMA 10, plus 3 additional credits in Journalism. Contact your academic and career counselor for additional information.

High School Summer Journalism Institute

From July 11-15, 2016, high school students passionate about journalism participated in a residential program at LIU Post. During this boot camp for high school reporters, they learned investigative reporting skills, including how to interview sources, write stories, take pictures, and blog, among other skills. They worked with the college editors of LIU Post’s award winning student newspaper, The Pioneer, and learned from renowned journalists from Newsday, CBS, Herald Community Newspapers, and Anton Media Group, among others.
