Transfer Student Checklist
Congratulations! You have been accepted to LIU Post. Welcome to our campus community!
As an admitted student, you may now follow the steps below to compete your registration and confirm your status as an enrolled student.
If at any time you would like to speak to a Transfer Counselor, please call the Admissions Office at 516-299-2900 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Set Up Your My LIU Account
Activate your My LIU account to view your transfer credit evaluation, pay your tuition deposit, and access financial aid and billing information.
- Go to my.liu.edu and click the “Activate My Account” button at the top right of the screen.
- Enter your social security number or student ID number, your date of birth, and the displayed security code to activate your My LIU account.
- For assistance with activating and using your account, visit the Center for Student Information at csi.liu.edu.
After you register for classes, you can use MyLIU to view and make changes to your course schedule, check your grades, pay your bill online, and to register for future semesters. You can also use My LIU as your official email address.
Pay Your Tuition Deposit
You may pay your deposit online through your my LIU Account or by regular mail.Download and complete the Admitted Student Response Form. Mail the form along with a nonrefundable $200 tuition deposit made payable by credit card, check or money order to: Office of Student Financial Services, LIU Post, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, NY 11548-1300. Please include your student I.D. number on the memo portion of the check or money order. Your 9-digit LIU Post student I.D. number can be found on your acceptance letter. If you do not know your I.D. number, please contact the Admissions Office at 516-299-2900.
Once you submit your tuition deposit of $200, you are eligible to register for the upcoming semester.
Apply for Financial Aid
(for U.S. citizens and/or permanent residents only)
If you have not already completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we urge you to do so by March 1. Logon to www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is used to apply for federal, New York State and university grants, scholarships and other financial aid. If you need help along the way, contact the Office of Student Financial Services at 516-299-2338 or click on the Financial Assistance & Scholarships link.
Check Your Student Transfer Evaluation
You can access your Student Transfer Evaluation online through your My LIU Account. An official credit evaluation will also be mailed to your home address within two weeks of your acceptance. Your credit evaluation is based on all official college transcripts received to date by the LIU Post Transfer Admissions Office. If you have attended a college that isn’t included in the evaluation or if you did not submit a final official transcript(s), please send these documents to LIU Post Admissions to complete your Admissions file and finalize your transfer credits. All updates to your credit evaluation can be accessed immediately online.
Meet Special Departmental Requirements (if Applicable)
Majors in the Departments of Art, Media Arts, Music, Theatre, Film and Dance, are required to interview with program directors and/or participate in an audition or portfolio review. Full requirements can be found on the individual degree program Web sites under the heading “Admission Requirements.”
Radiologic Technology, Nursing, Nutrition and Social Work majors also have additional admission requirements. Visit the Web site of the major that interests you to obtain more information.
Register For Classes
When you receive your Student Transfer Evaluation, contact Academic and Career Planning at 516-299-2746 to schedule an appointment with an academic and career counselor, who will tell you how your transfer credits apply to your major, advise you on course selection, and register you for classes.
Complete Health Forms
LIU Post requires all enrolled students to complete the following health forms:
These forms should be completed by you and your physician and mailed to: Director, Student Health and Counseling, LIU Post, Long Island University, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, NY 11548-1300.

Apply for On-Campus Housing
If you plan to live at LIU Post, you must complete and submit the Application for On-Campus Housing and include a deposit of $300. You may pay your deposit online through your my LIU Account or by regular mail. If paying by mail, please mail the form (located here) along with a $300 housing deposit made payable to Long Island University to: Office of Student Financial Services, LIU Post, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, NY 11548-1300. Please include your student ID number on the memo portion of the check or money order. The 9-digit University ID number can be found on your acceptance letter. If you do not know your ID number, please contact the Admissions Office at 516-299-2900. Students will not be assigned a residence hall unless they have registered for classes for the upcoming semester.
Deadlines to apply for On-Campus Housing:
- May 1 for Fall enrollment
- January 1 for Spring enrollment
Plan to Attend New Student Orientation
Orientation is a great way to learn more about college life, become familiar with campus resources and facilities, and meet other students. If you are enrolling in the Fall semester, you can choose from one of two convenient orientations, which are held in August. A make-up orientation is held a few days before school begins in September. For students enrolling in the Spring semester, orientation is held in January.
